is this you?
You’ve been developing your craft skills for a while now and as far as fulfilling careers go you can’t imagine doing anything else. You are now seriously thinking about turning your craft into a business.
It’s an Exhilarating feeling, isn’t it?
Whatever the reason, turning your craft into a business is a big step.
With all the available information out there you are starting to realise that entering the world of entrepreneurship requires a shift from making for pleasure as and when you feel like it, to the need for greater organisation, structure, and business knowledge that comes with making for-profit.
And with all that needs to be done to make it official…
You are starting to feel a little bit lost.
This is perfectly understandable given that…
We’re not born knowing how to weave creativity and business together.
It is a fact that a large proportion of creatives are likely to be self-employed, yet despite knowing this education providers don’t offer much in the way of starting a creative business training. And whether you are self-taught or formally trained, not everyone has had access to business role models and mentors to learn from and help pave the way.
So having started with what you’ve picked up here and there you’re left trying to piece together and figure things for yourself, embarking on a laborious time-consuming process of trial & error till you find what works.
You are not alone, all entrepreneurs make mistakes, it’s a part of the process.
However, You are here because you Appreciate That
Getting the basics right from the outset will set you up for success, saving you a lot of the future heartache, struggle, and expensive start-up mistakes that come with starting and growing a business. And for that, you know you need a right-for-your-vision plan. One that does justice to your dream and talents. You understand that a plan is essential to how successfully you’ll start your business. MEET Your Tutor
Hello there,
I’m Tapiwa Matsinde a London-based curator, author, mentor and expert in global fine crafts and design. Multi-passionate at heart before stepping into entrepreneurship I spent 20+ years working as a brand guardian and graphic designer for some of the world’s most prestigious brands in the luxury, lifestyle, hospitality, and blue-chip sectors.
My transition into the fine crafts sector began in 2005 when I set up as a self-taught fine jewellery designer resulting in one of my pieces being showcased at a ball for President Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration.
My interest in jewellery craftsmanship led to curating, researching and writing about exceptional global craft and design. For over 12 years I have been mentoring, interviewing, crafting, telling and sharing the stories of prestigious fine craftsmanship-centred brands and independent makers, designers, artisans, and crafters from around the world.
I have experienced the good, the bad, and the down-right ugly sides of starting a creative business and in this course, I pool together and share with you the insights, knowledge and hands-on expertise I have gained to help you avoid making the same mistakes I did.
